Will Iron Man recruit the Defenders?
New Avengers Team?
SPOILER ALERT!
The following contains spoilers for Captain America: Civil War & the Jessica Jones Netflix series.
After Captain America: Civil War, the mighty Avengers team is left divided, with one half under the leadership of Iron Man/Tony Stark, and the other half under the leadership of Steve Rogers/Captain America. As Vision said in the Sokovia Accords’ discussion scene between the former team, ever since Tony Stark, eight years ago revealed to the world that he was Iron Man, the amount of near-world-ending catastrophes have risen dramatically.

Now with a significant amount of Avengers out of the official team, and a world-ending catastrophe lurking in the cosmos (hint: Thanos), will Tony Stark go in recruiting new members?
The official Avengers team as of now stands as follows: Iron Man, Vision, and War Machine. With Hulk and Thor out of the picture for a while, and with just three members, it would be in Iron Man’s best interest to welcome new teammates.
Also, since Rhodey Rhodes aka War Machine, is recovering from a form of paralysis, he will most likely stay in the disabled list and won’t be stepping into the War Machine armor any time soon.

It could be the case though, that when he is inside the armor, he walks perfectly fine, as the armor, with a tweak from Tony, could act as a form of therapeutic exoskeleton. So technically, the team stands at two members.
Spider-Man could be a possible new Avenger.
After his team tryout during the Berlin airport scene, Tony could be disposed in making him an Avenger. But I don’t think Stark will bring him in, not yet.

Spider-Man is young, and being that all of the heroes that have been in the Avengers never hid their identity to the public, us knowing classic Peter Parker it is likely that he will not sign the Sokovia Accords and disclose his identity to the government as he would most likely have to, therefore not becoming an Avenger.
Definitely Aunt May wouldn’t want her young Peter in any kind of danger.
In Spider-Man: Homecoming we will further see how the relationship between Peter and Tony progresses, and then we’ll probably see Spider-Man joining the team of heroes, probably by Infinity War.
Black Widow was one Avenger who sided with Tony in the beginning of the war and also signed the Sokovia Accords, but after she let Cap and Bucky/Winter Soldier go during the airport fight scene, and with Tony telling her that Everett Ross was now after her, it is safe to say that she won’t be forming part of Tony’s team anymore.
You can read or listen to my theory of what will happen next to Black Widow by clicking this link.
So, in the time after the events of Captain America: Civil War, and between then and the Infinity War movies, will Tony go ahead in recruiting new members? Maybe the Defenders from the Netflix shows?

Since he knew about Peter and his adventures as Spider-Man in Queens before the principal events of Civil War, it’s probable that he also knows of Daredevil, Luke Cage, and/or Iron Fist. The Devil from Hell’s Kitchen is a trending name in the newspapers of New York, and I’m sure Stark would have had Friday (his A.I.) catch some video of Matt Murdock as Daredevil just as she did of Peter Parker as Spider-Man; or the footage could be on the internet like Peter assumed of himself in Civil War.
The Luke Cage character was introduced to the MCU in the first season of Netflix’s Jessica Jones, and this September we will finally get to watch his own series. Since we won’t get to fully experience Luke Cage until September comes, it is uncertain if Tony might have knowledge on Power Man.
Cage has not been covered by the New York media like Daredevil has, as his only presence to the public has been from his bar exploding after being rigged by Kilgrave the Purple Man, and a hospital visit to nurse Claire (Rosario Dawson) in Hell’s Kitchen.
But the possibility of Tony knowing of Luke Cage is there, since we got to see Spider-Man from the get-go without previous mention of him in the MCU.

The same goes for Iron Fist, who we won’t see until 2017. We will get to see him then, but the possibility of an Iron Fist presently fighting around New York is plausible.

Krysten Ritter stars as Jessica Jones |
The reason I don’t speculate that Tony will be after Jessica Jones is because Jones yet has not felt the call or responsibility of her powers. She doesn’t feel like a hero, as opposed to Daredevil who feels he has a duty to protect those whom the law fails to protect.
She might care about the people she loves and wants to save them from danger, like Trish from Kilgrave, but I think until the Defenders finally come together, Jones will still succumb to the fears of her past, and until she finds out the secrets of her powers, maybe through season 2 of the series, then the possibility of her becoming an Avenger is minuscule.
