How the X-Men could meet the Avengers:
Marvel Cinematic Multiverse?

The following contains spoilers for recent MCU and X-Men films.
While we might be a long way from Marvel introducing the idea of the multiverse on the big screen, we’ve already seen how DC has touched on their idea of a multiverse in the CW’s The Flash.

Having a multiverse on the big screen is definitely a tough job, since it would connect many arcs between movies that recently had no connection, like the successful X-Men movie franchise and the MCU.
Which leads to my theory that the best way a Marvel Multiverse could be created, would be if 20th Century Fox and Marvel worked out a deal to use the X-Men, and other characters to which Fox has the movie rights, like the Fantastic Four.
Sony is one studio that worked out a deal with Marvel, leading to the introduction of Spider-Man to Marvel’s line of interconnected movies. Another studio that Marvel worked out a deal with was Universal, who previously had complete movie rights of the Hulk.

So, if Marvel, Fox, and Sony, finally settle on the use of their characters, could a Marvel Cinematic Multiverse be the culmination?
Let’s say that this does happen and we finally see Wolverine team up with the Avengers like Captain America: Civil War directors Joe & Anthony Russo would like. The introduction of the Multiverse is the best way that this can possibly happen.
In Fox’s X-Men line of movies, the team of mutants live in a world without any Avengers, or Asgardian gods, or galactic guardians, and the same goes for Marvel’s cinematic heroes who live in a world with no mutants. So a multiverse seems like the way they could all meet without ignoring Fox's long line of films.
I would rather see Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and all the new and previous X-Men actors in the MCU than having Marvel recast the characters. It worked out perfectly for Spider-Man, but it would be disappointing to see those great X-Men characters go.

A popular concept within the Marvel community, is the idea of an Omniverse, where every universe and multiverse, including other comic companies like DC’s, are part of a large collection. So conceptually, even without an official introduction of a multiverse in the movies, there actually already exists one. You can read on the concept of the Omniverse on the Marvel Wikia website.
Like I mentioned earlier, forming a cinematic multiverse would connect other movies that previously had no connection. So Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man, and the new Tom Holland Spider-Man, could possibly exist simultaneously.
While it would definitely connect all those movies, it doesn’t necessarily mean that we will see Tobey Maguire back in his classic Spidey suit. What is fascinating though, is that with a cinematic multiverse anything is literally possible.
With Doctor Strange coming to theaters this November, the sorcerer supreme could be a way that Marvel could at least introduce the idea. While I don’t think a Fox-Marvel deal is imminent, Marvel could still introduce the multiverse and explore within its limitless array of possible story arcs.

Having a multiverse is also a way for Marvel to recast actors from previous Sony and Fox movies that had great performances. While bringing Sandman from Sony’s Spider-Man 3 through an inter-dimensional wormhole to fight Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the MCU might be a bit too much and rather unlikely, again, the possibilities are endless.
Now, while through the introduction of a Marvel Cinematic Multiverse the MCU’s Quicksilver could possibly return, I don’t think Marvel will bring him back to life since the X-Men’s Quicksilver has been getting a lot of buzz lately.
If a deal between Fox and Marvel happens, and Marvel is able to link the X-Men with the Avengers and the other MCU heroes, then it would be better to stick with the X-Men version of Quicksilver from an economics and marketing point of view.
The MCU’s Quicksilver only appeared in one movie, while the X-Men's Quicksilver appeared in two. He had a small role in X-Men: Days of Future Past, but now has a much larger role in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse.

And, while I really enjoyed Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron, I can’t deny that Quicksilver from X-Men: Days of Future Past was more fun to watch. His iconic scene where he stopped the plastic bullets from hitting Wolverine, Professor X, and Magneto by moving them out of the way in top speed, was absolutely incredible.
I think it’s time that Marvel and Fox finally work out a deal. Especially since the Fantastic Four are in serious need of a Marvel Studios make-over.

My pick is Galactus.
We saw a representation of Galactus in the 2007 film Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, but that rendition of the Devourer of Planets had no resemblance to the iconic design of the cosmic being in the comics.
I would love to see the way Marvel can depict Galactus and who they cast, if it actually comes to fruition.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe right now just began their third phase of movies with Captain America: Civil War, and will end with the last Infinity War movie in 2019. While we are three years away from the grand finale, I am really excited for what’s next to come.
With Thanos out of the picture in 2020, by then will Marvel introduce the idea of the multiverse for their Phase four set of movies? And who will the big bad villain be?
I hope that by then Marvel and Fox have a deal established. Everybody wants to see Galactus done right, and the geniuses at Marvel Studios definitely have that magic formula to make it happen.
